Battery replacement in Brussels: smartphone, tablet, laptop and MacBook
Does your device switch off at 30%, no longer last the day or run hot? It is often the battery that is worn out, not the device itself. At IC Computer Services in Schaerbeek, battery replacement is done in the shop: free diagnosis, then replacement if needed.

A battery is a wear part: with every charge and discharge, it gradually loses capacity. The right reflex is not to replace the device, but to have the battery checked. Replacing a battery often costs far less than a new device, and extends the life of your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Battery replacement: 5 signs of wear to know
If you recognise one or more of these signs, it is time to have the battery checked.
Battery life dropping
The device no longer lasts the day, whereas it used to.
Sudden shutdowns
It switches off by itself while there is still charge showing.
Unusually hot
The device gets hot while charging or even on standby.
Erratic charging
Charging is very slow, or jumps from one percentage to another.
Swollen battery
The screen lifts, the case bulges or the trackpad warps.
Test your battery in 4 questions
A short test to find out whether a battery replacement is probably needed. It is only indicative: only a diagnosis in the shop is reliable.
Warning: the battery may be swollen
Stop using the device and do not charge it. Bring it to the shop as soon as possible.
Your battery is probably worn out
A replacement is probably needed. A free diagnosis in the shop will confirm it.
Keep an eye on it
A single sign does not necessarily mean it is the battery. Have it checked to be sure.
No signs of wear for now
Keep treating it well. If in doubt, drop by.
Battery replacement by device
Choose your device to see what we check and how to check the condition of your battery.
Smartphone (iPhone and Android)
- On an iPhone, the “Battery Health” section in Settings shows the maximum capacity.
- Signs to watch for: reduced battery life, shutdowns, heat, a screen that lifts away.
- We test the battery and the charging port before deciding.
For a smartphone, battery replacement means replacing the old battery with a tested one, then checking the charging.
Tablet
- A tablet used every day wears out just like a phone.
- Signs to watch for: very long charging, a percentage that drops fast, a screen that lifts.
- On some tablets the screen has to be removed: we first check whether that can be done without risk, and if not we tell you beforehand.
We replace the battery and check the charging before returning the tablet to you.
Laptop
- Signs to watch for: the PC switches off as soon as it is unplugged, very short battery life, heat.
- A trackpad or case that lifts can point to a swollen battery.
- We also test the charger and the charging socket.
For a laptop, battery replacement uses a battery suited to your model.
MacBook
- On a Mac, the “Battery” section in System Settings shows the condition of the battery.
- Signs to watch for: “Service Recommended”, reduced battery life, a trackpad that lifts.
- We check the battery and the rest of the machine before working on it.
We replace the MacBook battery and check that everything works before returning it to you.
How a battery wears out: the principle of charge cycles
A battery does not last forever. Each time you use the equivalent of a full charge, from 100% to 0%, it completes one cycle: even if that charge is spread over several days. With every cycle, it loses a tiny bit of capacity.
Indicative illustration with typical values (around 80% after 500 cycles). They vary depending on the model, heat and use.
Which batteries are used today?
Two main families are found in almost all current devices.
Lithium-ion (Li-ion)
The most widespread technology: it is found in many laptops, often as a block of cylindrical cells.
Lithium-polymer (Li-Po)
Flat and thin, it follows the shape of the device: it is the battery in smartphones, tablets and many recent laptops, including the MacBook.
In both cases, the battery is sensitive to heat and shocks, which is why caution is needed at the slightest sign of swelling.
A battery warning? Do not take chances
If your device shows a battery message (“Battery Service”, damaged battery, overheating) or if the screen or case lifts: do not carry on as if nothing were wrong. A swelling battery can break the screen, damage the device and, in extreme cases, catch fire or explode.
Stop charging the device, do not pierce or crush it, keep it away from heat and bring it to the shop. Never replace a swollen battery yourself.
Making your battery last longer
A few simple habits to put off the next battery replacement.
Avoid heat
No direct sunlight, no overheated car: heat wears the battery out.
Avoid extremes
Avoid draining it completely again and again.
A good charger
Use a quality charger and cable suited to your device.
Get it checked
At the first sign of wear, a check avoids nasty surprises.
How much does a battery replacement cost?
The price depends on your device model and the quality of the part. There are a huge number of models: the simplest way is to send us yours on WhatsApp and we will reply with the price.
Our price range, depending on the model and the part.
Original battery
This is the one we offer first. Most of the time, the price difference with a compatible battery is small.
Compatible battery
A tested alternative, sometimes cheaper. We tell you what exists for your model and what is worth it.
How we go about a battery replacement
We look for the real cause first: it is not always the battery.
Diagnosis
We test the battery, the charger and the charging port to find the real cause.
Replacement
If the battery is the cause, we replace it with a tested battery.

Frequently asked questions about battery replacement
Answers to the questions we are asked most often.
How much does a new battery cost?
The price ranges from 25 € to 129 €, depending on the model and on whether the part is original or compatible. Send us the model on WhatsApp: we will give you the exact price.
Original or compatible battery: which to choose?
We offer both, but most of the time the price difference is small, so we recommend the original. We tell you what exists for your model.
Is there a warranty on the battery?
Yes: 3 months on a compatible battery and 6 months on an original battery.
How can I tell whether the battery is worn out?
Rapidly falling battery life, sudden shutdowns or unusual heat are the most common signs. Take the test above, then drop by the shop: the diagnosis is free.
Can a battery be repaired rather than replaced?
A worn battery cannot be repaired: it is replaced. Battery replacement therefore means fitting a new battery suited to your device.
What should I do if my battery is swollen?
Stop charging the device, do not pierce it and bring it to the shop. Do not try to replace a swollen battery yourself.
Is my data kept?
Yes, of course. The battery has nothing to do with storage: your photos, apps and messages are saved in the storage memory, on the motherboard. Changing the battery does not touch your data, you lose nothing.
What happens to the old battery?
A used battery does not go in the ordinary bin: it must be recycled. Ask us in the shop how we handle it.
A battery that no longer holds a charge?
Before buying a new device, have the battery checked. For a battery replacement, we simply tell you what is needed.
