- Switch the iPhone off straight away: don’t turn it back on to “test” it and don’t plug it in, because power on a wet board makes corrosion worse.
- Remove the case and wipe the outside with a dry cloth, without heating the device.
- Bring it to the workshop quickly: the longer you wait, the more the oxidation spreads. A salty or sugary liquid (sea water, coffee, a sweet drink) is particularly aggressive.
What not to do
- Don’t turn the iPhone back on to check whether it still works.
- Don’t plug it into a charger or a computer.
- Don’t heat it (hairdryer, radiator) and don’t shake it.
- Don’t use rice: it doesn’t solve the problem and delays the inspection.
What we do
We examine the iPhone, work out how far the oxidation has spread and give you the price before any repair. Depending on the case, we clean and treat the oxidation, then replace damaged parts if necessary. If the motherboard is affected, iPhone micro-soldering may be needed.

To speed up the diagnosis, bring the iPhone without its case. Note the liquid involved (water, coffee, sea water, a sweet drink…), how long the contact lasted and the symptoms: black screen, not charging, sound or microphone no longer working. These details help us pinpoint the fault from the start.
If the iPhone no longer turns on, don’t plug it in to try: just tell us what happened and we will guide the diagnosis.

An iPhone with water damage must be examined even if it seems to work. If your water-damaged iPhone turned back on by itself, don’t see that as a guarantee: oxidation works silently. For an iPhone with water damage from a salty or sugary liquid, the urgency is even greater, and a water-damaged iPhone is not fixed with rice.
